ISIN to ticker lookup
One ETF share class has one ISIN and a ticker per exchange and trading currency. Type a ticker, an ISIN or a German WKN: the lookup returns the ISIN and every listing the London Stock Exchange, SIX Swiss Exchange, Xetra and Euronext publish for it, with the venue's MIC and trading currency, and says whether FundFacts holds the fund's data.Published October 25, 2026Lookup
A ticker on any venue (add .L, .DE, .AS, .PA or .SW for one exchange), a 12-character ISIN, or a German WKN. Case and spaces are ignored.
Try:
Worked example: one ISIN, five listings
IE00B5BMR087 is the iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF USD (Acc). The venue lists carry five lines for that one share class, each with its own ticker and trading currency; the ISIN is the same on every row. A broker's search box usually wants the ticker of the venue it trades on, while a data API, a KID or a factsheet names the ISIN.| Exchange | MIC | Ticker | Trading currency |
|---|---|---|---|
| London Stock Exchange | XLON | CSPX | USD |
| London Stock Exchange | XLON | CSP1 | GBX |
| Xetra | XETR | SXR8 | EUR |
| Euronext Amsterdam | XAMS | CSPX | EUR |
| SIX Swiss Exchange | XSWX | CSSPX | USD |
IE00B4L5Y983: investors call it IWDA in Amsterdam and London, SWDA in London (in pence) and Zurich, EUNL on Xetra. One fund, one ISIN, five tickers.| Exchange | MIC | Ticker | Trading currency |
|---|---|---|---|
| London Stock Exchange | XLON | IWDA | USD |
| London Stock Exchange | XLON | SWDA | GBX |
| Xetra | XETR | EUNL | EUR |
| Euronext Amsterdam | XAMS | IWDA | EUR |
| SIX Swiss Exchange | XSWX | SWDA | USD |
How the lookup works
- A ticker is matched exactly, on every venue or on one.CSPX returns its London and Amsterdam lines; CSPX.L, CSPX.AS or a MIC in the API narrows it to one venue. Tickers are reused across exchanges, so a bare ticker can name several funds: each comes back with its own ISIN.
- An ISIN returns every listing of that share class. The venue lists are keyed by ISIN, so the lookup lists each venue, MIC, ticker and trading currency the lists hold for it. A share class with no line is not exchange-traded, or is listed only on a venue outside the lists.
- A WKN resolves through the Xetra list.Deutsche Börse publishes the WKN beside the ISIN and the mnemonic, so a six-character code that no venue lists as a ticker is tried as a WKN.
- Each fund says whether FundFacts covers it.Covered funds have their data in the store; a fund the lists know but FundFacts never loaded is loaded by its first API request or factsheet. The lookup itself reads the store and crawls nothing.
The same lookup as JSON
GET /api/v1/resolve takes a ticker and, optionally, an exchange (a MIC, a name or a Bloomberg code); GET /api/v1/search accepts a ticker, a WKN, an ISIN or a name. Both are free with any API key and are not counted as requests.GET /api/v1/resolve?ticker=CSPX&exchange=XLON

What is the difference between a ticker and an ISIN?
An ISIN identifies a security itself: one 12-character code per share class, the same everywhere in the world. A ticker identifies a listing: the short symbol one exchange uses to trade that security. One ISIN therefore has as many tickers as it has listings, and the same ticker can mean different securities on different exchanges, which is why fund data APIs key on the ISIN.Why does one ETF have several tickers?
Because it is listed on several exchanges, and sometimes several times on one exchange, once per trading currency. iShares Core S&P 500 (IE00B5BMR087) trades as CSPX in US dollars and CSP1 in pence on the London Stock Exchange, SXR8 on Xetra, CSSPX on SIX and CSPX again on Euronext Amsterdam in euros. Each line is a different way to buy the same share class.Which exchanges does the lookup cover?
The instrument lists the venues publish themselves: the London Stock Exchange's ETF category, SIX Swiss Exchange's funds segment, Xetra's tradable instruments (whose mnemonics Börse Frankfurt shares) and Euronext's ETF list for Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Lisbon, Dublin and Oslo. They are reloaded every week. For funds FundFacts has already loaded, listings on other venues (Borsa Italiana, BME Madrid, Wiener Börse) come from OpenFIGI, without a trading currency. What is a WKN, and can I search by it?
The Wertpapierkennnummer is the six-character German securities number, still printed by German brokers and fund houses beside the ISIN. The lookup reads the WKN from the Xetra list, so a WKN resolves when its share class is listed on Xetra; funds listed only elsewhere have to be searched by ticker or ISIN.Does a result mean FundFacts has the fund's data?
Not necessarily. Each result says whether the fund is covered (its data is in the store), not loaded yet (the lists know it, and the first API request or factsheet loads it from the fund house's documents) or not covered (the last load found no public fund data). The lookup itself reads the lists already in the store and loads nothing. Is the lookup free, and is my query stored?
Yes, it is free and needs no key; it is limited to a few dozen lookups a minute per address. The query is resolved and not stored. For any volume, GET /api/v1/resolve and GET /api/v1/search answer the same question with a free API key, and are not counted as requests.Have the ISIN? Turn it into data.
One request returns key facts, TER, holdings, risk and performance for that share class as JSON. Free plan, no card.Keep reading
