About FundFacts API

What the service is, how a fund's ISIN becomes a structured factsheet, which figures are computed and which are read as published, and how to reach us.

What FundFacts API is

FundFacts API is a REST and MCP API that turns any fund or ETF ISIN into a structured JSON factsheet: key facts, holdings, sector and country exposure, risk metrics, performance and fees. It is self-serve: a free key, one call per ISIN, JSON out. The same data is served to AI assistants through the MCP server and the companion kit described in the AI agents docs.Published September 29, 2026

How a payload is produced

Every payload is built from documents published by the fund's own management company for that share class. The ISIN is first resolved (name, ETF or fund, asset class hint, currency, domicile) through OpenFIGI. An adapter for the issuer then locates the fund's published documents: the product page, the monthly factsheet, the PRIIPs KID and, where the issuer publishes them, the full holdings file and the NAV history. These are extracted into one payload shape. When several documents state the same figure, the more structured source wins: figures derived from the NAV history first, then the holdings and NAV files, then the KID, then the factsheet. Each ISIN is stored for 24 hours; a request within that window is answered from the store, and the next request after it reloads the current documents. data.dataAsOf carries the as-of date printed in the document itself, so it can be shown next to any figure. The freshness page describes the store and the sourcing in detail.

Computed versus read as published

When a total-return history is available, cumulative, calendar and annualised returns are computed from it, so they are consistent across issuers; a distributing class's price NAV is only used once its distributions are reinvested. Volatility, Sharpe ratio and maximum drawdown are the fund house's own figures when it publishes them, otherwise computed over the last 36 complete months, with the Sharpe ratio measured against a same-currency money-market fund.Everything else is read as published: fees, the risk indicator, holdings, exposures and key facts are the figures in the documents, and nothing is estimated except where the field description says so. Figures may lag the issuer's live data; verify against the official documents before making an investment decision.

Independence and trademarks

FundFacts API is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any fund house, index provider or data vendor named on this site. Names are used nominatively, only to identify the publicly available documents the service reads. Nothing on this site is investment advice.

Coverage and how it is measured

Coverage varies by issuer: ETF providers usually publish holdings and NAV files, active managers usually publish a factsheet and a KID only. A coverage harness runs real share classes per fund house through the same pipeline as the API and counts which sections of the payload the best one fills. The coverage pages say what to expect per fund house, with the date of the last run.
