# Which document languages does the API read?

**Short answer:** The KID's risk indicator and cost table are parsed deterministically in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch (with a document model as fallback for other layouts). Factsheets and product pages are read in the language the fund house publishes for the ISIN, most often English for UCITS ranges; breakdown labels and the objective text are returned as printed, so a German factsheet yields German sector labels. The numbers are normalised regardless of locale.

## What is language-independent

Numbers, dates, currencies and percentages are normalised whatever the locale: "0,20 %" and "0.20%" both become `"0.20%"`, "25.09.2009" and "Sep 25, 2009" both become `"2009-09-25"`. The 1–7 risk indicator, calendar years, weights and the series are numeric.

## What follows the document

- **Labels** in `sector`, `geography`, `assetAllocation` and `creditQuality` are the fund house's own words. A factsheet published only in German gives "Informationstechnologie"; most UCITS ETF ranges publish English and that is what you get.
- **`investmentObjective`** is the KID's objective paragraph, in the KID's language.
- **`profile`** is derived from the numbers, so `category`, `regionFocus` and `sectorTilt` are always English labels and comparable across languages.

## The KID

The PRIIPs KID (Basisinformationsblatt, DIC, KID, Documento contenente le informazioni chiave, Essentiële-informatiedocument) has a fixed structure, and the cost table and risk indicator are read with per-language label sets in EN, FR, DE, ES, IT and NL. For other languages or unusual layouts the document model reads the table.

## SCPIs

French SCPI documents (bulletins trimestriels, DIC, rapports annuels) are read in French and the [SCPI endpoint](https://fundfactsapi.com/docs/scpi) returns French field values where they are labels (category "bureaux", capital "variable") and numbers everywhere else.

## FAQ

### Can I request the English version of a fund's documents?

The adapter reads the document set the fund house publishes for that ISIN; where an English factsheet exists it is preferred. The profile block gives you English, comparable classification labels in every case.

## About FundFacts API

FundFacts turns any fund or ETF ISIN into one dated factsheet (fees and KID costs, the 1–7 risk indicator, holdings, sector and country exposure, returns) read from the fund house's own documents: as a client-ready PDF under your firm's name for advisers and wealth managers, as JSON through its API for developers, or inside ChatGPT and Claude through its MCP server.

FundFacts works inside ChatGPT and Claude as a connector (a remote MCP server): ask about any fund or ETF by ISIN, ticker or name and the assistant answers from FundFacts' dated figures, fees, risk, holdings, exposure and returns, with fund cards, side-by-side comparisons, holdings overlap and portfolio look-through.
